Disability Advocates & Resource Center is a non-profit organization which seeks to empower people with disabilities to achieve their desired level of independence.
The Youth Coordinator will provide outreach and information to youth with disabilities who are 28 and younger. Educate, train and provide support in developing independence through the centers core services in Pitt, Wilson and Beaufort counties. S/he will help to connect youth to existing community services and organizations in order to help them meet their needs. S/he will build partnerships with groups, agencies and organizations in Disability Advocates & Resource Centers’ (DARC) service area that represent youth. In addition, the Youth Coordinator will assist in the development of outreach, recreational opportunities, technology education and educational materials for youth.
The Youth Coordinator supervises and provides training, recreational activities for youth group meetings on continuing basis, conducts outreach to youth, develops and instructs on program curricula and marketing materials for the program, insures goals are met, maintains and updates the consumer database.
The IL Coordinator is responsible for outreach to consumers with disabilities to educate, train and provide support in maintaining independence in their daily lives through the centers core services in Pitt, Beaufort and Wilson counties. This position is responsible for interaction with various community organizations and agencies to partner with Eastern NC Center for Independent Living (aka DARC) in providing services to our consumers. The IL Coordinator will develop peer support groups, maintain consumer information, and serve as a role model of independent living to people with disabilities.
